Happy World Book and Copyright Day, bookish friends!

A beloved holiday that has become more and more established in recent years. And we are very happy about that. What the holiday is, where the idea came from to celebrate it on today's date and how it is linked to mythical Catalonia, we can already read everywhere. So today, instead of talking about the history of the holiday, we decided to talk to you about one of the writers for whom today's date was chosen as Book Day - William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is a universe. Like ours, the one we live in is often misunderstood, belittled, and perhaps reified. But that is the fate of unique things, of universes. He wrote 38 plays, 154 sonnets and 2 long poems. All beloved to this day, all staged and screened to this day. For example, the new film based on Macbeth in 2021 has become a talking point and debate even today.

And Shakespeare himself is shrouded in mystery. Little is known about his life. We know that he was married to Anne Hathaway (yes, that name always carries magic), that he had 3 children, and that he died on April 23, 1616, along with Cervantes. But whether William himself is the author of the works beloved by the whole modern world, we still cannot guarantee. Perhaps we never will. And maybe we don't need to know. To look behind the veil of magic would only diminish its effect.

Today, we choose to read Shakespeare, to celebrate him, and to give thanks that we live in times where there is Shakespeare, there is Cervantes, there are books, and there are you.
